The Best Me in 2016…

As the New Year is begins we focus on new goals and resolutions.

According to the dictionary a resolution “is a firm decision to do or not to do something”. Like many over the years I have made several resolutions (weight loss, financial, etc.) and sadly stuck to none. I can only blame myself for not being realistic, not being motivated, and just giving up.

This past year was an eye opening experience for me.

I realized that I totally let myself go (physically, mentally, and spiritually). I’ve lost my identity, my worth and my love for myself. One of the biggest struggles in life is the struggle to know, embrace, and accept ourselves with all of our imperfections and faults.

Above all, be true to yourself, and if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it. – Author Unknown

Now don’t get me wrong, I am a mother of four and have no intentions on “jumping ship”, I just need to think of me more often than none. I stopped caring and traded my well-being for the well-being of others.

I am making a firm decision for 2016 and beyond to choose me!

I choose to become more mindful of my thoughts, feelings, and behavior. To become familiar with my vulnerabilities as well as my strengths and milestones, and most importantly to love myself for both.

I have committed to finding my happy place by creating a personal affirmation:

2Have you created a personal affirmation for the New Year?

  1. I didn’t create a personal affirmation for the year. But I chose a word. A word that has so much meaning that surrounds it. I share it in my post

But in short, I chose “Joy-Full.” I want everything I do to be either with joy or for joy. Things that make me happy & things that I love. I want to give & share joy to those around me. I want the ebbs & flow of my lifestyle to sprinkle joy.

I wish you the best for 2016. And remember, when you feel overwhelmed & want to give up, know that every day is a new day. A new day for you to rise up. To have self care. To make time for yourself. Or to start that new change. You have new opportunities every new day. 😉

    • I truly believe in being blessed to have the opportunity to be able to better myself everyday…I know it’s a process that will take time and my faith is what I lean on for patience. I love the idea of a one word affirmation!

  2. Yes! You should only ever chose yourself! I agree 100% with this and feel like I’m going through the same thing. My self worth was non existent and I already feel so much better than I did 16 days ago. 2016 is the year of YOU.

  3. Your affirmation is beautiful and I’m sending you lots of good vibes from my corner of the world. I stumbled across my affirmation in a magazine a few weeks ago and it is “I would rather make my name than inherit it.” For me, it is a reminder to work and not to wait for things to fall into my lap. That’s my goal for 2016. Beautiful post.

    • Thank you for the love…you are so right about working hard…you tend to appreciate the blessing much more when you work for it…it reminds you of the sacrifice it took to get there! Positive vibes back at you!
